MUNYA HOTEL DELMANO

Floating somewhere between the understated psych-pop of Welsh pioneer Gwenno and the dreamy French sophistication of Melody's Echo Chamber & Charlotte Gainsbourg, 'Hotel Delmano' is the first preview of French Canadian MUNYA (aka Josie Boivin)'s newly announced EP. Paying hommage to a late-night hotspot in Brooklyn, the EP, Delmano, also takes its name from this high-end drinking institution. Musically, 'Hotel Delmano' is a wondrous concoction of punchy drum machine-generated beats and off-kilter synthesizers that pave the way for Boivin's enchanting French vocals to shine through. Taking inspiration from another French-speaking band Vendredi sur Mer, Bovin explained, "I just fell in love with their music video of ‘La Femme à la Peau Bleue’. I watched it so many times that she entered my dreams, once we were having a drink at Hotel Delmano. The song is about that dream.” -Holly Mullineaux
